It seems to be snowing every day here in the Cairngorms. Trouble is it’s borderline for the temperature between snow and rain.
Yesterday we visited good friends near Inverness in the snow and rain.
Today we walked around Loch an Eilein and another loch and then down Glen Feshie, again having snow and rain during the walks. Not much low lying snow left, the rain has removed it.
Good evening at the Winking Owl in Aviemore. Excellent food and Cairngorm Brewery beers. I stayed on the Black Gold stout all night.
We’re staying at the Macdonald Morlich Hotel in Aviemore. When we checked in on Monday they told us the hotel was closing on Friday because of a lack of bookings and we’d have to move to one of the other 2 Macdonald hotels in Aviemore. They gave us £30 in vouchers and a bottle of wine to soften the blow.
Today we visited reception to find out what was going on to be told they were keeping the hotel open because they now had enough bookings. What a way to run a business. If you book with Macdonald hotels you never know if they will honour your booking or try and move you somewhere else! We won’t be booking with them again! We’ve made sure we used all the vouchers tonight though!
Tomorrow we may snowshoe in the Glen Feshie area, perhaps up Sgor Gaoith with fantastic views to Braeriach.
