Our bungalow is on the B5470 (labelled as Manchester Road on Google Maps) in the village of Tunstead Milton, midway between Whaley Bridge and Chapel-en-le-Frith in the Derbyshire Peak District.
Look for a large sign on the verge beside the road: BRIARWOOD TUNSTEAD MILTON. Do not park on the road – this used to be the A6 and still has lots of traffic on it! There’s lots of space to park and turn around on our front drive.
Search on Google Maps using DAVE BUTCHER PHOTOGRAPHY and it shows our exact position on a map. We are about 150m from Combs Reservoir Dam which is shown clearly on the map too.
From CHAPEL-EN-LE-FRITH follow the B5470 through the town centre in the direction of Whaley Bridge. Pass the Hanging Gate pub on the left and Combs reservoir on the left. After 150 metres look for a stone bungalow with a slate roof. You will see my workshop / studio with double french doors in front of you as you pull onto the tarmac drive. Pull off the main road and park in front of the house.
From WHALEY BRIDGE take the B5470 to Chapel-en-le-Frith and after 1 mile you will see small industrial units on the right hand side. We are 200 metres beyond this on the left. Look for a stone bungalow with a slate roof. You will see my workshop / studio with double french doors in front of you as you pull onto the tarmac drive. Pull off the main road and park in front of the house.
The closest station to Briarwood is Whaley Bridge. This is in the centre of the village and within easy reach of several b&b’s and guest houses. It is on the Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton line and the journey time is about 40 minutes. It is not possible, at the time of writing, to arrive by train on a Sunday morning, the first train arrives too late for my courses. We can collect you from the station or your local accommodation. We can also collect you from Chinley train station, this is on the Sheffield to Manchester rail line.
