I turned off my iMac before going away to Austria for a week and on our return it wouldn’t start. It fired up but couldn’t get to the home page. The Mac repair place ran the diagnostic tests and declared it beyond repair, at nearly 8 years it was too old.
I ordered a replacement iMac as soon as I heard the bad news, slightly improved spec compared to the old one. It arrives tomorrow, 6 days after ordering, non-standard spec so it took a bit longer.
In total I’ve been without a computer for 10 days. I’m in withdrawal! My desk has a big space at the moment, between the external RAID drives and negative scanner on one side and the 2nd monitor and Wacom tablet on the other.
Fingers crossed it is filled tomorrow and it doesn’t take long to set up so that I can use it.
